Just to make it clear after some questions, and I'm sorry I didn't make it clear earlier.

I don't think photomanipulations will be effective here. IMO, they'd be the "easy way in/out" for this contest.

I'm hesitantly accepting any other traditional or digital medium. What matters is that you hold true to the references used, that there is evident use of the references that you will need to link to in the description. Of course you can change the reference's expression, color, etc.

If that doesn't make sense feel free to comment.

ENTER OR FEAR MY HOUNDING YOU WITH MUFFINZ!!!

Yay mini contest, inspired by !!!

So whilst browsing through all my favorite piles here on DA, I got this fun idea that it would be a blast (for me at least, but I'm lame) to host a special kind of contest.

Here's the catch.


You can create anything you want. As long as it includes a reference from either my Cats Own the World folder, Misc. Resources/refs folder, or Horse refs folder.
AND it must also include at least three brushes/textures from my Brushes and Texture folder.

I don't know about you guys, but it sounded to me like a good way to get these guys some advertising.

SO, to review, in each entry that you submit, there must be:
Evidence of a reference to one of my three favorite stock/reference folders listed above.
AND
Use of at least 3 textures/brushes from my Brushes and texture folder.

+Yes, you may use other references and brushes other than these, but I'd like you to try and focus on the ones advertised in my favorites. They deserve attention!
++There's a lot of unique and dynamic poses in my horse refs, so I don't think you'll be at a loss for inspiration.

NOTE!!! <sub>~indigomoose's photos are absolutely not allowed to be used in a manipulation, or at all, without her express consent. By unhappy circumstance, I am unable to effectively remove them from the "Horse References" collection, and apologize for any misconceptions.

ALSO!! Be ABSOLUTELY sure you have permission from the photographer to use their piece as a reference. There are some (not that many) in there that I've faved just for inspiration that the artist would prefer not be used at all -especially in manips.</sub>

<sub>Prizes!1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will all get a digital painting from me of an OC of their choice. Preferably equine, though I'd be happy to try and stretch my repetoire. Of course, there will be varying degrees of detail according to what placement is achieved.

I haven't decided yet how this will be judged. Of course skill will not be the only component. There must be good use of the stock, references, textures, and brushes of the artists I am advertising. And awesome points if you use a resource I've favorited that hasn't gotten a lot of attention.

AND ABOVE ALL, HAVE FUN!!! Cheers to you all, happy hunting (in my faves). And, of course, make sure you notify the various artists that you'd like to/will be using their art. Permission is happy.
